Science Ideas
BirdSleuth at Cornell Lab
Are you already planning for spring? If so, you should think about using
BirdSleuth at the Cornell Lab of Orthnithology. BirdSleuth is an inquiry-based
science curriculum that engages kids in scientific study and real data collection
through the lab’s exciting citizen science projects. Kits may be purchased for
use. However, there are many free resources available at birdsleuth.org/free-
resources. You’ll find that the curriculum easily connects science to math and
technology through the collection and submission of data to the free and easy to
use eBird database. Through this citizen science project, students get to
practice as real scientists do, knowing the data they collect is readily accessible
at school, at home, and to researchers at the Cornell Lab and around the world. Check it out! http://birdsleuth.org/free- resources
